As you know, Venice has been sinking, probably under the weight of millions of tourists! Nonetheless, we ventured from the train station though the city streets and alleys, the main ones clearly marked "Rialto" or "San Marco" this way. After almost an hour of twisting and turning through streets, alleys, piazzas, and fighting our way through the hordes of visitors, we arrived at Piazza San Marco.
Not sure if there was a piazza, but the architecture is incredible! Not having tickets to enter the Palazzo Ducale and the cathedral and not wanting to wait on line for hours, we took the vaporetto back to the train station. Saw some lovely sights along the way.
Managed to catch train back to Mira where we had a wonderful seafood lunch - soup, salad, and pasta with seafood. It's nap time. We expect we'll be able to update a little more frequently now and share pictures as well.
